What is the WhatsApp Business API?
The WhatsApp Business API (now called Cloud API) lets businesses send and receive messages programmatically. Unlike the WhatsApp Business App, the API supports multiple users, automation, CRM integration, and high-volume messaging. Meta hosts the infrastructure — you connect via their Graph API.
How Much Does It Cost?
Meta charges per-conversation (not per-message). Service conversations (customer-initiated) include 1,000 free per month. Business-initiated conversations (using templates) are charged per conversation window — typically R0.30–R0.80 depending on the category. ChatReach adds a transparent platform fee starting at R499/month.
Getting Started
1. Create a Meta Business Portfolio at business.facebook.com. 2. Create a Meta App with WhatsApp product. 3. Generate a System User access token. 4. Sign up for ChatReach and enter your credentials. 5. Start sending messages.
